मोहनदास करमचंद गांधी का जन्म गुजरात के पोरबंदर में 2 अक्टूबर सन 1869 को हुआ था। इनके पिता करमचंद ब्रिटिश राज के समय दीवान थे।
1883 में इनका विवाह 14 साल की कस्तूरबा से करा दिया गया 15 वर्ष की उम्र में इनकी पहली संतान ने जन्म लिया जिसने की कुछ दिन बाद ही दुनिया को अलविदा कह दिया।
30 जनवरी 1948 को एक प्रार्थना सभा के दौरान गांधी जी की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई थी।
